Job Title: Bindery Machine Operator – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $20/Hr.
Hours: 2nd Shift – Monday to Thursday, 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM
Training Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Bindery Machine Operator for a temp-to-hire position for our client, a well-established printing and finishing company located in Portland, Maine. The Bindery Machine Operator will operate machinery to finish printed products, including tasks such as polywrapping, drilling, and stitching. Success in this role means delivering high-quality output, following safety protocols, and meeting production goals. This is a hands-on, physical role in a fast-paced production environment, perfect for someone looking to grow into a permanent position.

As a Bindery Machine Operator, you will be responsible for:

  • Prioritizing tasks according to the production “hot list”

  • Comparing face tickets to purchase orders to verify job specifications and ensure quality

  • Calculating box requirements based on form size and quantity

  • Retrieving, assembling, and labeling boxes for packing

  • Setting up machines by adjusting guides and mounting stock

  • Running samples and checking product quality

  • Adding chipboards as needed for support

  • Packing products securely in boxes and stacking on pallets

  • Logging production data and scanning job tickets for tracking

  • Transporting finished orders to shipping using a rolling table or pallet jack

  • Performing general housekeeping and assisting with other tasks as assigned


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience

  • Previous production or manufacturing experience preferred

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills

  • Minor mechanical ability to make machine adjustments and operate small tools

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and use hand tools (e.g., tape gun, knife)

  • Able to walk, lift (5–40 lbs.), bend, and move pallets throughout an 8–12 hour shift

  • Visual and mental focus required for quality control
