Job Title: Machinist I / Shop Lead – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $27–$30/hour
Hours: 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (must be open to all shifts); Training on 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Machinist I / Shop Lead for a temp-to-hire position for our client, a well-established and safety-driven manufacturing company located in Biddeford, Maine. The Machinist I / Shop Lead will operate CNC lathes, spray booths, and bonding machines to machine aluminum, brass, steel, and plastics. The Machinist I / Shop Lead will play a key leadership role on the shop floor, guiding team performance and ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. This is a hands-on role with career advancement potential, located in Biddeford, Maine.

As a Machinist I / Shop Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Operate CNC lathes, spray booths, and bonding machines

  • Machine parts from materials such as aluminum, brass, steel, and plastics

  • Set up machines and ensure they are running efficiently and safely

  • Train and lead shop team members in safe, efficient machine operation

  • Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles

  • Apply advanced shop math, including trigonometry

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred

  • 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a machining environment

  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge

  • Proven shop math skills (trigonometry, measurement conversions, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate clearly and lead training effectively

  • Experience with CNC programming software (preferred)

  • Desire to grow into a supervisory position

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work 10-hour standing shifts

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
