Job Title: Web Press Operator Trainee – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $21/Hr.
Hours: Full-Time, 2nd Shift – Monday to Thursday, 2:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Training Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Web Press Operator Trainee for a temp-to-hire position for our client, a leading print production company located in Portland, ME. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined and eager to learn. No prior experience is required—just bring a strong attention to detail, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a great work ethic. The Web Press Operator Trainee will assist in operating multi-color web presses, ensuring print jobs are completed accurately and on time. This is a hands-on, physical role in a production environment with the potential to grow into a permanent role.

As a Web Press Operator Trainee, you will be responsible for:

  • Reading and interpreting job tickets and purchase orders

  • Verifying print samples, stock types, and job quantities

  • Setting up the press by hanging plates and adjusting feeder/delivery units

  • Inking the press, mixing chemical solutions, and managing ink/water balance

  • Running press checks and self-monitoring for quality control

  • Cleaning and maintaining press units, trays, blankets, and blades

  • Ensuring proper labeling and chemical preparation for next jobs

  • Logging production time, job specifications, and barcode entries for tracking

  • Clearly labeling and preparing completed jobs for the next department

  • Performing end-of-job clean-up and preparing for shift transitions

  • Completing daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean workspace


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • No experience required; 4-color offset press experience is a plus

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures

  • Basic understanding of ink/water systems and mechanical troubleshooting is a plus

  • Able to lift 25–50 lbs throughout a 10–12 hour shift

  • Able to walk, bend, push rolls, and move pallets regularly
