Job Title: Commercial Baker – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $20–$22/hour ($41,600–$45,760 annually depending on experience)
Hours: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Commercial Baker for a full-time position for our client, a locally owned and operated bakery, located in Portland, ME. The Commercial Baker will oversee the baking area, produce breads and rolls, monitor proofing and cooling processes, and manage four rack ovens. The Commercial Baker plays a vital role in ensuring product quality and team efficiency, especially during the busy summer season. This is a direct placement opportunity located in Portland, Maine.

As a Commercial Baker, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the baking area to ensure efficiency and compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Preparing and baking breads and rolls according to daily production requirements

  • Monitoring and adjusting proof boxes for optimal dough development

  • Overseeing the cooling process of baked goods to maintain quality and freshness

  • Operating and managing four rack ovens for consistent and efficient baking

  • Performing quality control checks to ensure products meet bakery standards

  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working in a commercial or industrial kitchen setting

  • Knowledge of baking processes and the ability to operate baking equipment

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment

  • A team-oriented mindset with flexibility to meet shifting business needs

  • Physical stamina to stand throughout an entire shift and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

  • The ability to wear proper footwear and comply with the dress code (shorts allowed in summer, closed-toe shoes required)
