Job Title: Patient Outcome Specialist – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $20/hour
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, daytime hours
Start Date: ASAP (6–8 week temporary assignment)

We are seeking a Patient Outcome Specialist for a temporary position for our client, a respected community health organization located in Waterville, ME. The Patient Outcome Specialist will support follow-up on referrals made by providers and ensure accurate documentation and communication. This role will succeed through strong phone-based customer service, accurate data entry, and a high level of attention to detail. This is a full-time position supporting a critical short-term project for 6–8 weeks.

As a Patient Outcome Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Contacting patients by phone to follow up on referral status and document outcomes

  • Scheduling specialist and diagnostic test appointments in a timely manner

  • Faxing or mailing reports, notes, and other materials to appropriate offices

  • Tracking referral progress and ensuring appointments are completed

  • Notifying providers of any declined appointments or missed procedures

  • Handling insurance referrals and obtaining necessary prior authorizations

  • Documenting all communications and actions clearly in the EMR

  • Maintaining communication with providers, nurses, and outside offices

  • Reporting any delays or issues with referrals and authorizations

  • Performing other administrative duties as assigned

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Previous office experience (required)

  • Medical office experience or familiarity with medical terminology (preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and organization

  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills

  • Problem-solving ability and clear communication

  • Ability to work independently in a professional setting

  • Availability to begin work immediately

  • Ability to pass background check and PPD testing
