Job Title: MIG Welder - Sheet Metal Frame Fabricator
Pay: $24/Hr. to $30/Hr., depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Overtime available
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a MIG Welder - Sheet Metal Frame Fabricator for a temp-to-hire position for our client, a trusted custom sheet-metal fabricator located in Biddeford, Maine. The MIG Welder - Sheet Metal Frame Fabricator will work on fabricating tubular-steel parts to customer specifications with minimal supervision. Success in this role involves ensuring the quality and precision of welding operations while following safety protocols. This is a temp-to-hire position located in Biddeford, ME.
As a MIG Welder - Sheet Metal Frame Fabricator, you will be responsible for:

Laying out, fitting, welding, and finishing tubular-steel parts according to customer specifications.

Ensuring all safety measures are in place, including welding screens, before starting work.

Performing daily maintenance and safety checks on welding equipment.

Measuring workpiece dimensions during fabrication to ensure quality and repeatability.

Maintaining a log of preventive maintenance on a daily/weekly schedule as per manufacturer recommendations.

Observing tool and machine operations to detect any defects or malfunctions.

Notifying the supervisor of any problems and recommending improvements for efficiency.

Finishing welds according to work orders.

Keeping the work area clean, neat, and free of hazards.

Verifying material type, thickness, finish, and orientation of structural members.

Verifying all dimensions and ensuring the correct weld specifications are met.

Inspecting tapped holes for debris and ensuring weld splatter is removed as required.

Performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned to meet company goals.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:

High school diploma or trade school certificate, or equivalent.

At least 1-2 years of MIG welding experience, particularly with sheet metal fabrication.

Ability to interpret job travelers (work orders) and understand cut lists and BOMs (Bills of Materials).
Basic knowledge of metallurgy and material types.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.

Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures, dial calipers, and Versa Gauges.

Understanding of material shrinkage and expansion when exposed to heat.

Strong understanding of welding safety practices.

Certification on the battery-operated pallet jack, overhead crane, and welding equipment.

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and reach for 8-10 hours per day.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

Comfort working in a typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, and machinery oil.

Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and a focus on safety and quality.
