Job Title: Utility Worker – Urgently Hiring!
Pay: $20/hour
Hours: 1st Shift, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP


We are seeking a Utility Worker for a temp-to-hire position for our client, a leading metal finishing company located in Westbrook, ME. The Utility Worker will support various stages of the plating process, performing tasks such as buffing, racking, washing, and inspecting parts. The Utility Worker will succeed in this role by maintaining strong attention to detail, meeting production deadlines, and following safety procedures. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position located in Westbrook, ME.
 

As a Utility Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Operate buffing machinery to polish and finish customer products.

  • Set up equipment and polishing wheels as needed for daily production.

  • Perform manual buffing and polishing on parts to meet quality standards.

  • Maintain buffing equipment by cleaning and replacing wheels regularly.

  • Unload and organize incoming customer products from boxes or totes.

  • Place parts onto and remove them from metal wire racks by hand.

  • Inspect, clean, and test products before and after plating to ensure quality.

  • Pack completed products and affix appropriate exterior shipping labels.

  • Assemble metal racks for use in the plating process.

  • Wash parts using industrial parts washer machines.

  • Wire and mask parts in preparation for plating procedures.

  • Meet daily production deadlines in coordination with the team.

  • Report any production issues to a supervisor promptly.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and proper handling protocols.


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • No prior experience required—training is provided

  • Ability to work with small, delicate parts with physical dexterity

  • Good reading, writing, and basic math skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and follow clear instructions

  • Professional communication skills to interact with supervisors and coworkers

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, and stand for extended periods

  • Capability to hear verbal directions, see details up close and from a distance, and perceive color and depth


Work Environment:
Work is performed in a manufacturing plant setting. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and the use of PPE.
