Job Title: Senior Assembly Technician
Pay: $25/Hr. to $32/Hr., Depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Assembly Technician for a Temp to Hire position with our client located in Saco, ME. This is a high-tech company specializing in medical and surgical optics, particularly scopes used in medical procedures. The Assembly Technician will perform complex assembly, integration, and alignment of optical and mechanical components in a new, cleanroom environment that meets strict cleanliness and sterility standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside engineers and technicians on advanced medical optics projects.

As a Senior Assembly Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing complex assembly, integration, and alignment of optical and mechanical components according to detailed drawings, procedures, and specifications.

  • Working in a cleanroom environment, adhering to strict contamination control and sterility protocols.

  • Using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, interferometers) to verify component dimensions and assembly tolerances.

  • Troubleshooting assembly issues and implementing corrective actions to ensure quality.

  • Collaborating closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure seamless integration of components and systems.

  • Developing and improving assembly procedures and work instructions for optimal efficiency and precision.

  • Training and mentoring junior assembly technicians, fostering skill development and team growth.

  • Maintaining accurate records of assembly processes, test results, and process improvements.

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly efficiency and product quality.

  • Maintaining and calibrating assembly tools and equipment.

  • Performing functional testing of assembled systems and documenting results.


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in precision assembly, preferably in the optics, photonics, aerospace, or medical device industry.

  • Soldering experience and fine welding experience are a plus.

  • Fiber testing and fiber processing experience.

  • Microscope experience or experience handling small electrical parts with excellent hand-eye coordination and small-piece dexterity.

  • Proven experience working in cleanroom environments and adhering to strict contamination control protocols.

  • Quality control (QC) experience to ensure high standards are met.

  • Comfortable working in a lab environment with technical processes and sterile requirements.

  • Proficiency with custom computer applications and data entry.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly principles, tolerances, fits, and interpreting technical drawings.

  • Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with optical alignment and testing procedures is a significant plus.
