Job Title: CNC Setup & Programming Machinist – Urgently Hiring
Pay: $28/Hr. to $35/Hr. (depending on experience)
Hours: Flexible start times: 5:00 AM, 6:00 AM, or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Overtime available as needed
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a CNC Setup & Programming Machinist for a direct-hire or temp-to-hire position for our client, a well-established precision machining company located in Limerick, ME. The CNC Setup & Programming Machinist will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC Vertical and Horizontal Mills, as well as other machining equipment. Success in this role means operating independently in a job shop environment, delivering high-precision results, and helping improve process efficiency. This is a full-time position offering growth and long-term stability in a supportive and employee-focused workplace.

As a CNC Setup & Programming Machinist, you will be responsible for:

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC Vertical & Horizontal Mills

  • Operate CNC lathes, mills, gear-making, and grinding equipment

  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings

  • Validate machine programs to ensure precise machining

  • Improve and document machining processes for production efficiency

  • Ensure all machined parts meet dimensional and surface finish specifications

  • Collaborate with team members in a dynamic job shop setting using various machine controls and CAD/CAM programs


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical school preferred)

  • Proven experience with CNC machine setup, programming, and operation

  • Job shop experience and the ability to manage multiple setups independently

  • Strong understanding of machining principles and engineering documentation

  • A quality-focused, self-motivated, and detail-oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials as required
