Job Title: Welding Assistant, Urgently Hiring!
Pay: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour (based on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Welding Assistant for a temp-to-permanent position for our client, a well-established manufacturing company located in Biddeford, ME. The Welding Assistant will support production with a wide range of fabrication tasks including welding, cutting, inspection, and reading technical drawings. This role will begin with training in general shop tasks before welding becomes a regular part of the job. Success in this position will come from a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a team-focused attitude.

As a Welding Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in a variety of shop tasks including TAC welding, milling, cutting, and inspection

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints

  • Performing welding after initial cross-training (approximately 50 percent of the role)

  • Assisting with fabrication and machining processes

  • Operating various shop tools such as saws, mills, and lathes

  • Maintaining quality standards and documentation throughout projects

  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors

  • Supporting a safe and clean work environment

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Some welding experience or basic competence (TIG preferred)

  • A willingness to train in fabrication and shop work before welding regularly

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • A positive attitude, strong character, and professional communication skills

  • The ability to read and follow technical drawings

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
