Job Description


Job Title: Food Safety Quality Control Technician
Pay: $23 - $25/hr
Hours: Monday - Saturday, 4:30am-12:30pm - 8+ hours/day with possible day off
during the week.
Start Date: Immediate openings!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Finished Product Inspections (Groundfish & Lobster):
  • Inspect and verify all seafood products for:
  • Proper identification, coding, and labeling
  • Absence of contamination or adulteration
  • Adherence to quality, cut, trim, and weight standards
  • Proper packaging size, type, and net/glaze weights
  • Temperature checks for cooked lobster products
  • Correct butchering, washing, grading, and handling procedures
  • Raw Material Specifications including: Whole Fish, Live Lobster, Ingredients, Packaging

Understand and monitor:
  • HACCP Plans, GMPs, and Prerequisite Programs
  • Plant layout and hygiene zones (High Risk/Low Risk)
  • Sanitation systems (Hand dips, boot dips, utensil dips, chlorinated water)
  • Microbiological sampling/testing protocols
  • Chemical and ingredient use compliance
  • Pre-operational and operational sanitation inspections
  • Daily sanitation audits (as relief for QA Manager)
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming product
  • Implement hold/tag procedures
  • Conduct re-inspections, reworks, and support Positive Product Release or disposal decisions
  • Monitor product traceability from raw material to finished goods
  • Ensure proper coding on all packaging and product forms
  • Maintain accurate and legible QA records and inspection forms
  • Report deviations and recommend corrective actions or improvements
  • Recommend process improvements for quality and efficiency
  • Assist QA Manager in product and process development
  • Maintain clean and organized inspection areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements:

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Basic math and English skills
  • Ability to identify labels, read scales, and complete QA records
  • Strong attention to detail with sensory abilities (taste, smell, feel)
  • Ability to distinguish colors for inspection and coding
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Moderate physical activity in cold, wet conditions
  • Requires strength, agility, stamina, and speed to lift, push, and pull moderate loads

Work Environment:
  • This role is performed in a production environment that involves exposure to cold, wet, and noisy conditions. Proper PPE and safety training are provided and required.
