Job Title: Weekend Part-time Custodian - Urgently Hiring
Pay: $18-20/hour
Hours:

  • Saturday: 4 PM - 6 PM

  • Sunday: 2 PM - 4 or 5 PM
    Cleaning will be handled after the gym closes.

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Weekend Part-time Custodian for a temp or temp-to-hire position for our client, a well-established facility located in Freeport, Maine. The Weekend Part-time Custodian will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the facility, creating a welcoming environment for members and guests. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and contribute to the overall upkeep of the facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone retired or looking for a second job.
As a Weekend Part-time Custodian, you will:

  • Work with the Facility Director to acknowledge and respond to member comments and facility concerns within 24 hours.

  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and inform the director when supplies are low.

  • Perform custodial work in the main branch and childcare center, including vacuuming, mopping, trash pickup, and laundering towels, shower curtains, mops, and rags.

  • Clean all areas of the facility, including washing walls, windows, mirrors, baseboards, floors, showers, and bathrooms.

  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper chemical handling and OSHA compliance.

  • Report unsafe conditions, facility issues, and any unresolved problems to the Facilities Director.

  • Mentor less experienced co-workers by providing guidance on job responsibilities and procedures.

  • Fill in for co-workers as needed.

  • Adhere to all organizational policies and safety practices.

  • Perform other duties as required by the Facilities Director.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • 1-3 years of relevant custodial or maintenance experience.

  • Ability to read and write English (preferred).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Reliability, dependability, and punctuality.

  • Basic computer skills, including email and the internet.

  • Ability to follow written instructions and perform basic math calculations.

  • Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting (paid for by the employer).
Physical Demands:

  • Ability to frequently lift, pull, and push objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals.

  • Strong concentration, memory, and ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
