Job Title: Facilities Technician – Urgently Hiring

Pay: $22 – $24 per hour

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a Facilities Technician for a Temp-to-Hire position with our client, a leading non-profit research laboratory located in Boothbay, ME. The Facilities Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities across campus, supporting the operations team to ensure a safe and functional environment. Success in this role means proactively identifying and addressing maintenance issues, responding quickly to repair needs, and supporting staff across multiple buildings with professionalism and efficiency.
As a Facilities Technician, you will:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC support.

  • Assist the Facilities Director with facility needs across campus, indoors and outdoors.

  • Complete setup and breakdowns for meetings and events.

  • Support snow removal, landscaping tasks, and storm preparation.

  • Work with outside contractors and vendors to resolve building issues.

  • Respond to building emergencies (on-call rotation may be required).

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment across labs and residential halls.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions.

  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and maintenance equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow directions.

  • A team-focused mindset with initiative to take on new tasks.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience with HVAC, electrical systems, or building maintenance.

  • Familiarity with backup generators and green building systems.

  • Comfort using mobile apps for troubleshooting equipment.
