Job Title: Assistant Plant Manager
Pay: $65,000 - $85,000 annually
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

As an Assistant Plant Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting daily production, ensuring products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and sanitation. You'll work closely with the production team and management to optimize processes, uphold food safety protocols, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within a close-knit environment.
What You'll Do
As an Assistant Plant Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing daily production activities to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards for quality, safety, and sanitation.
  • Coordinating and supervising production staff, setting clear objectives, and motivating teams to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Managing inventory levels and supplier relationships, ensuring timely procurement and proper storage of raw materials.
  • Monitoring production processes, inspecting equipment, and ensuring machinery is operational and maintained properly.
  • Enforcing health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper PPE use and foreign matter prevention.
  • Collaborating with QA/QC teams to uphold SQF, HACCP, and other food safety certifications.
  • Assisting in training and onboarding new team members and continuously improving operational procedures.
  • Reporting on production metrics, identifying risks, and proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Supporting the implementation of process improvements and operational strategies to optimize productivity.
What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
  • At least 5 years of leadership and supervisory experience in manufacturing or related production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, specifically SQF and HACCP practices.
  • Ability to manage production schedules, meet KPIs, and oversee inventory control.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with equipment inspection, process optimization, and enforcing safety protocols.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred but not required if you have relevant industry experience.
  • Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment and move throughout production areas.

Location & Schedule
This is an on-site position based in Bath, Maine, with a standard Monday to Friday schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM. Additional days may be required to connect with sanitation teams and adjust to operational needs.
